This project required that we pick a beer that already existed and rebrand it. I chose Allagash, a Belgian-inspired American beer located in Portland, Maine. I wanted to focus on Allagash's Belgian roots, since their brewing process comes from the Belgian Trappist Monks. I studied famous monasteries and cathedrals in Belgium for inspiration. Trappist Monk beer has been made for thousands of years, and is partly what makes the monks so famous. This convinced me to use different styles of cathedral and monastery windows as my system for different flavors. The windows on the bottles serve as "windows" themselves - you can see through the windows on the bottles onto the other side of the bottle. I also wanted the bottles and packaging to be as plain as possible, since monks pride themselves on their ability to live simply. This is why my box uses plain materials like cardboard and does not use any color.
