For our Web II class we had to redesign an app or website that already existed and make it better in both design and function with UI/UX. I chose Mission Church's app.
Church apps are often not as well designed, and this was the case for Mission Church. I wanted to create an app that was engaging both visually and functionally. The app they used did not make much sense in many ways. Just one example is the amount of things that wouldn't open in the app. The app said you could give an offering through the app, but it didn't work - it would just link you to their website. So their app was pretty pointless, since 2/3 of their app features didn't work inside the app and would open inside Safari with their website.
I chose to focus on this, making the app more functional within the app so that users didn't need to open the website in order to use the app. I also focused on making the design consistent through a grid system, and making it attention-grabbing visually through photography. Most of the photos are my own since I used to be a photography and graphic design intern at a mega church.
I used Adobe Experience Design to create this app, and recorded a video inside Experience Design of myself using it. The video is what is shown below.
